The Crystalline Conflict is a PVP mode available to all players once they hit level 30. Added in Patch 6.1, it’s unlocked through the Quest “The Crystal (Line’s) Call” given by Gungi Zelungi (Wolves’ Den Pier, X:5 Y:6). The Quest will only appear once you’ve completed “A Pup No Longer”. That Quest is given by various NPCs depending on your Grand Company:

Immortal Flames: Swift (Ul’dah – Steps of Nald, X:8 Y:8) The Maelstrom: R’ashaht Rhiki (Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks – The Aftcastle, X:13 Y:12) The Twin Adders: Vorsaile Heuloix (New Gridania – Adders Nest, X:9 Y:11)

There isn’t a good estimate on just how many matches it can take to win this particular pup. Its drop chance is entirely random. So long as you have space in your inventory, it’ll be added directly to it after your match.

Alternate Method

The sort of good news is that if you didn’t want to PVP, you’re in luck! A second method of getting your prized pup exists – though the RNG of it isn’t much better. Added in Patch 6.0, Grand Companies now offer Material Coffers for 20,000 Seals each. The Material Coffer 3.0 in particular can drop nearly any Minion or Mount from Heavensward. This means you’ve got a shot at your Fenrir Pup any given time you have the Seals. While it isn’t guaranteed, it does mean you can avoid PVP entirely if it isn’t your cup of tea.

High Wolf Marks For Effort

Oh, hi Wolf Mark. If you’ve chosen to battle it out in the Crystalline Conflict, you’ll accrue a large amount of Wolf Marks. These are currency used to purchase various rewards in Wolves’ Den Pier. Whether you win or lose, you’ll still get a couple hundred. It’s worth knowing what you can spend them on while pursuing your Fenrir Pup – so here’s a quick list:

Mounts:

Magitek Sky Armor (20,000 Wolf Marks)

Hairstyles:

Modern Aesthetics – Fashionably Feathered (18,000 Wolf Marks) Modern Aesthetics – Styled for Hire (18,000 Wolf Marks)

There are also some minor furnishings available for various prices. The items above are generally what’s worth farming for, though. On a more Series note, you’ll also receive Series Experience for each Crystalline Conflict match. Think of Series Malmstones as a sort of Battle Pass. You passively earn rewards just for playing this mode. You’ll earn 700 Experience for a loss and 900 for a win. Each rank requires varying amounts, and offers various rewards. The exclusive rewards are:

Rank 5 – Ballroom Etiquette – Persuasive Perseverance Rank 10 – Astra Framer’s Kit Rank 15 – False Shaded Spectacles Rank 20 – Umbra Framer’s Kit Rank 25 – Archfiend Attire Coffer (pictured above)

All other Ranks reward you with varying amounts of Trophy Crystals, which are spendable at the same Vendor area as Wolf Marks. You can use them to purchase items such as:

Adventure Plate Frames Glamour Minions Orchestrion Rolls Chocobo Bardings Wolf Collars

But these are in limited supply, as you can only earn them during a PVP Season.
