Unlocking Urth’s Fount requires you to first do the quest “Fear and Odin in the Shroud” from Scarlet in New Gridania (X:9.0, Y:11.0). This is part of a series of quests that starts with “Primal Fear”, a level 50 quest that can be obtained from Urianger in the Waking Sands (X:6.0, Y:4.9).

After completing the level 46 Main Scenario Quest “The Black Wolf’s Ultimatum”, a new side quest will become available from Urianger in the Waking Sands (X:6.0, Y:4.9) called “Primal Fear”. Urianger will tell you about rumors of a primal appearing in the Shroud and directs you to Lewin in the Seat of the First Bow in Gridania. Speaking with Lewin will complete “Primal Fear” and he will offer the next quest in the series called “Who Was That Man in Black”. This quest will have you speak with citizens of Gridania to gather more information on this mysterious primal. Once you are done gathering info from the Gridanians, report back to Lewin and the next quest “The Dark Divinity” will become available. Lewin will ask you to seek out O-App-Pesi in Quarrymill, South Shroud (X:25.3, Y:20.3). O-App-Pesi will then tell you to travel to Urth’s Fount in the southeast corner of South Shroud to investigate the crystal where Odin had been sealed. After sharing your findings with O-App-Pesi, he confirms that the mysterious rider in black is in fact the primal known as Odin. He will then tell you to report to Simmie in the South Shroud (X:25.6, Y:21.0). This will complete “The Dark Divinity” and will continue the story with “All You Wanted to Know About Odin” from Simmie. Simmie will ask you to deliver her report to Urianger back at the Waking Sands. At this point, you will need to have completed the level 50 Main Scenario Quest “The Ultimate Weapon” to continue the quest line. Once that prerequisite has been met, the quest “Fear and Odin in the Shroud” will become available from Scarlet in New Gridania (X:9.0, Y:11.0). Scarlet tells you that Odin has appeared yet again and O-App-Pesi has come up with a plan to stop the primal. Head to Urth’s Fount in the South Shroud (X:33.8, Y:23.1) to listen to O-App-Pesi’s plan. You can now face the Elder Primal by selecting Urth’s Fount in the Duty Finder. This is a level 50 8-man trial. After defeating Odin, speak with O-App-Pesi once more to complete the questline and hear what he has learned about the Primal.

Aside from learning all about the Odin in the world of FFXIV, players might also want to take him down for the loot that he drops. Like most other trials in the game, Odin drops a treasure coffer after being defeated. Party members will cast lots on the items found inside the coffer to see who gets what.
