How to Get Ophiotauros Hide in FFXIV

Farming Ophiotauros themselves are the fastest and most obvious way to get your hands on Ohiotauros Hide without having to spend any gil. These mobs are found in Elpis, near the end of Endwalker.

Ophiotauros are found in the Northwestern part of Elpis at the Ethoseletikos Boreas, around the coordinates (14.8,8.2). Ophiotauros Hide is not a guaranteed drop off these mobs, so you will likely have to kill many to get what you need. Be aware other players will likely be farming them too as this is the start of the expansion.

If you don’t want to farm Ophiotauros directly, whether just because it sounds tedious or other players are hogging their spawns, you can instead trade them for Bicolor Gemstones.

It costs two Bicolor Gemstones for one Ophiotauros Hide, and you can get them from both FFXIV: Shadobringers and Endwalker FATEs. You can trade your Bicolors at one of the Gemstone Traders at Labyrinthos, Radz-at-Han, and Old Sharlayan.

You can, of course, choose to just buy Ophiotauros Hide or even Ophiotauros Leather off the Market Board but the cost will be steep so early in the expansion. It’s best to farm these babies yourself, either through grinding Ophiotauros themselves or going the Bicolor Gemstone route.
