Aizawl Region Judge Lalhriatzuali Ralte gave a notice restricting lighting of firecrackers and sky lamps, among others, during the Diwali party.

“I’m of the assessment that lighting of firecrackers and sky lamps is presenting air and clamor contamination which might make unfriendly impacts and while such unpredictable utilization of firecrackers might prompt bothersome episodes and wounds to the people and may cause fire and dangerous risks,” the DM said in her request.

The warning said: “There are adequate reason for continuing under Segment 144 of Cr PC 1973 to forestall wounds to general society and risk to human existence during this approaching Diwali celebration.”

It said that no individual will have, store, show, use, sell fireworks and sky lamps inside Aizawl locale and there is a complete restriction on the import and offer of these things.

The request will remain inforce for a time of two months except if repudiated before.

Infringement of the request during its legitimacy will be culpable under Area 188 of the Indian Punitive Code, the request added.
