A new Aquaman promotional image gives fans a closer look at Jason Momoa’s cool superhero suit. Taking a break for several months following the release of Justice League last year, Warner Bros. is gearing to slowly roll out their marketing campaign for the forthcoming James Wan-directed project. Set after the events of Justice League, the film follows Arthur Curry back in Atlantis as he proves himself worthy to be the king of the underwater civilization.

One of the most controversial angles when talking about adapting Aquaman into the big screen is the superhero’s suit. In the comics and animated series, he’s usually sporting a green and orange suit which may not be too flattering in a live-action film, especially given its supposedly more serious tone. Nonetheless, Momoa’s appearance in Justice League quelled people’s concerns that he might look goofy. Director Zack Snyder opted for an edgier aesthetic that fits Momoa’s vibe perfectly. Now that the character is about to debut in his first standalone film, the latest look at what would be his new suit on the movie has arrived online.

Courtesy of Reddit user vizgauss is an official promo image of Momoa for Aquaman coming from the ongoing Licensing Expo in Las Vegas. While the actor has maintained his long locks from the last time people have seen him, he’s sporting a different costume. The suit’s color appears to be similar to the toned-down orange and green palette but it has more pronounced shoulder details. Since the image is only from the shoulder up, it’s unknown what the whole ensemble looks like, but solely based on the latest image, the armor looks gorgeous. Check it out below.

UPDATE: A more complete look at the Aquaman poster was revealed by Reddit user poolga. Take a look below:

Interestingly, Momoa is still carrying the quindent - the same one he used in Justice League - different from his iconic Trident of Neptune from the comic books. The five-pronged weapon was borrowed from Mera just after Steppenwolf attacked Atlantis for their motherbox. The Game of Thrones alum previously explained that he’s not allowed to use the three-pronged trident because he’s not yet the king. That said, fans should expect that Arthur will eventually wield his signature weapon in Aquaman once he finally claims his right as the rightful leader of Atlantis.

However, claiming the title and the Trident of Neptune won’t be a walk in the park for Arthur. Not much is known regarding specific plot details for Aquaman, but just like any political narrative, the Human-Atlantean hybrid will need to be clever with regard to the people he chooses to surround him with. The imminent public release of its first trailer will more likely offer additional details on what fans can expect from the film, and with the marketing campaign already slowly starting, safe to say that it won’t be too long before Warner Bros. rolls it out.
