On Tuesday, four days after their son’s due date, the couple found out Amanda could want a C-phase following an ultrasound showing low fluid degrees.

Concerned, their medical doctor asked the couple to go to the Cape Coral Hospital through the emergency room for admission that night time for near monitoring.

With Hurricane Ian already on its path of destruction, the couple fast left their domestic and drove thru gusty winds and rain already coming down.

Once on the clinic, the Mahrs understood that Amanda might most probably have the C-segment after the hurricane handed.

“It turned into so terrifying, very worrying and horrifying,” she says. “We had actually, I assume, 17 mins from the time we awakened until they commenced wheeling me into the OR.”

At eight:forty nine AM, George Bentley Mahr was born, weighing 10 kilos, 6 ounces, with a complete head of dark hair.

“We both looked at every different and nearly like time itself stopped,” says Matthew, 37. “We smiled, and we both began crying.”

The couple later back to their birthing suite with George because the lighting commenced to flicker. Since Hurricane Ian was projected to hit within the time-frame of Amanda giving beginning, the couple have been inundated with questions asking if Ian could be added to their son’s call.

“People were like, ‘You should change his center call to Ian,’ or, ‘You need to add Ian in,’ ” she says. “And I’m like, ‘I might instead never hear that call again.’ We’re calling him Hurricane George.”
