Before the party even begins, start setting the mood with a playlist crafted by the birthday guy or gal. This helps to set the mood from the get-go! Listen while you’re getting ready, setting up, and throughout the eve. Share your playlist with your guests a day before the party so they can get excited, too! If you want your friends to add as well, include them in a group playlist on Spotify so that everyone feels included.
Getting ready for a night with friends still applies. Really wow yourself in the mirror. Dressing up will ultimately take you away from the fact that you are sheltered and can’t go out to celebrate. You may not go out physically, it will take you out mentally. Yes, shoes included.
Easy to make, easy to bake, and everyone can do it. Encourage your zoom guests to bake themselves cupcakes so everyone can participate in the festivities. Makes the communal cake having process much easier. We suggest going to your local grocery store (support local) and pick up an easy bake cupcake mix with minimal ingredients. This way you can bake them whilst getting ready.
Instead of shots, which we all love or hate, opt-in for a signature two ingredient cocktail that doesn’t take forever to make but isn’t the fastest to do. Again, it gets you and your guests/roommates out of their heads and transports them out of the “shelter in place.” In the photo above, we made off the cuff Moscow Mulls with Belvior Fruit Farms ginger beer and Absolut in Mandarin. Serve with cut limes and a fun glass.
We recommend using paid Zoom if you plan to have more than 10 people show up. Google Hangouts only allows 10 people max while a free Zoom allows multiple guests (up to 40 minutes). For a $15 fee, you can upgrade Zoom for unlimited length on your chat. Another reason to use Zoom is that guests can change the backgrounds of their video feeds to pictures, places, whatever, adding to the fun and reminiscing on nostalgia. Makes for a laughter filled evening.
