Call of Duty finally dropped the Pacific map in the Warzone, and many players have reported that COD Warzone Pacific crashed after updating the game. We have seen similar reports emerging from different parts of the world, and it does happen when the packages are updated in the system. Blizzard and partner stores have dealt with it in the past and have prepared enough tools to resolve the problem.
The major complaint that I had regarding COD Warzone is stability and maximum performance. Blizzard didn’t release the game with optimal stability, and it has several bugs which were visible in Twitch streams. We had several content creators from around the globe complaining about the updates and shortcomings. I have compiled a list of solutions that will deal with Pacific map update problems.
COD Warzone Pacific Map Requirements
Activision is a progressive game developer, who has shaped the free-to-play game for the future. The game packages have gotten heavier since it’s an original release, and it requires a mid-range gaming machine to render the graphics. Allow me to list down realistic specifications to run the Warzone Pacific map at constant 60 fps.

Minimum Hardware:
- CPU: 4-Core with 4-Threads CPU.
- Example: Core i3 5th generation
- RAM: 16GB RAM
- I played the game on 8GB (DDR4 3000MHz) RAM, and it was an unpleasant experience.
- Storage: SSD (1GB Read/Write speed)
- GPU: GTX 1050 Ti or RX 500 series graphics
- Older GT series and the Radeon HD series will struggle even in the lowest graphics setting.
- Software: Windows 10
Windows 11 is a new edition, and it’s a bit choppy on different hardware components. Microsoft promised to deliver stable software that brings maximum performance out of the hardware by the end of 2022. Meanwhile, you can downgrade the software to Windows 10 and unleash the maximum potential of the existing components.
Recommended Hardware:
- CPU: 6-Core with 12-Threads CPU
- Ryzen 5 series is a blessing in disguise, and it will run COD smoothly.
- RAM: 16GB RAM
- Storage: SSD (1GB Read/Write speed)
- GPU: RX 570 or later and GTX 1060 or later.
- Software: Windows 10
I implore the readers to wait till June 2022, and Microsoft will release a stable software build version that will benefit the Windows 11 gaming users.

Update Windows
Windows 11 is an eye candy operating system, but it has flaws since it’s in the early stages of stable software. You shouldn’t avoid newer quality and cumulative updates because they contain important core packages. Let me show you how you can update Windows OS manually.
Open Settings from the search bar.
Click on the “Windows Update” option.
Click on the “Check for updates” option.
Wait for Windows to connect with Microsoft servers and fetch updated information.
You may have to wait for a minute or up to five minutes.
Click on “Download”, if new updates are available from the publisher.
Click on “Restart”, when the updates are saved in the system.
Do not skip updates since they are designed to improve performance and strengthen security. However, you should watch out for a newer build version, and I had a worse experience in the past.
Update Graphics Driver
Your GPU requires the latest graphics driver to render modern games and its GUI. I want COD Warzone players to update the graphics driver from time to time for optimal performance. Don’t rely on third-party tools to keep the system up-to-date. I will show you a way to update AMD and Nvidia graphics cards.
AMD:
Open AMD Control Panel from the search bar.
Click on the gear icon located at the top right corner.
Let Radeon Control Panel automate the process for you and make sure to install recommended software only. AMD offers optional software, which you should avoid for the time being due to stability issues.
Nvidia:
- Open GeForce Experience from the search bar.
Note: You should install the latest GeForce Experience version if you skipped it during the setup process.
Click on “Drivers” located at the top left corner.
Click on the “Check for updates” option located at the top right corner.
Click on the “Download” button.
Let GeForce Experience take of the rest of the task, and it will update the packages for you. Meanwhile, you should leave the machine alone and do not work in the background. Your display will flicker as the graphics packages are being updated.
Perform a Clean Boot
lean boot is a sequence that disables background applications and services from third-party publishers. You gain full control over the software and disable background programs/drivers from the machine in the next session. System administrators can identify the problematic driver or program that is causing Warzone to crash in the Windows PC. Let me show you how you can perform a clean boot in Windows 11.
Open System Configuration in the search bar.
Click on “Services” from the top menu.
Select “Hide all Microsoft services”, then click on the “Disable all” option.
Click “OK” to confirm the changes.
Click on “Startup” and open “Task Manager” from it.
Note: You can open Task Manager from the search bar if you prefer it.
Click “Startup” from the top menu.
Select all startup programs and disable, if any one of them is enabled.
Restart the Windows machine manually. Now, you can launch the Battle (dot) net application and try running COD Warzone again. You can re-enable all services back again, but you should do it one by one to identify the problematic driver or program.
Scan and Repair Game Files
Games have larger file sizes, and it is a complicated process to update them. You can repair the game files if one of the files is misplaced or got corrupted during the updating sequence. Let me show you how you can scan corrupted or missing game files in the Battle (dot) net store.
Open Battle (dot) net store.
View the Warzone page and click on the gear icon located beside the “Play” button.
A menu will appear on the screen and click on the “Scan and repair” option.
Click on the “Begin scan” option.
Battle (dot) net store program will begin the scanning process.
Monitor the progress bar and do not interrupt the scanning process until it reaches 100%. The algorithm automatically detects the missing or corrupted game files and repairs them.
Don’t Overclock Windows Hardware
Overclocking desktop or laptop components is not recommended for novice users. I’m not an expert at overclocking since it freaks me out, and it’s expensive to buy a replacement.
I’d like to share my story that eliminated overclocking thought process. My GPU is manufactured by ASUS and it has premium components since it is part of the ROG Strix edition.
ROG Strix is a premium product line from ASUS, and it has an excellent cooling system in place. I tried to overclock the GPU using AMD’s very own algorithm.
However, RX 570 (4GB) crashed numerous times in a few hours despite the voltage, and frequency was boosted at safer levels. Nowadays, you can overclock the RAM module, GPU, CPU, and what else. I implore the readers to gain knowledge in the overclocking department, then play around with the machine.
Close Background Running Tasks
I stopped playing COD Warzone, and the contribution goes to heavy RAM consumption. It is well-known that Warzone and Pacific’s map is RAM-hungry, so you should clean up the memory from the system. Firstly, you should upgrade the memory to 16GB, and I had an 8GB (DDR4 3000MHz) module installed back then.
Press Ctrl + Alt + Del and click “Task Manager” to open it.
Close all background running programs.
Select the program, then click on “End task” to close it.
Do not run any programs in the System Tray, and you should conserve resources for the game only. Unfortunately, Microsoft removed game mode in Windows 11, or else, you could have minimized the background usage.
Reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime
Windows dominates the gaming industry and Mac or Linux doesn’t even come close to the competition. It’s the Visual C++ Runtime packages that have engineered the game to produce an immersive experience for the players.
Uninstall the Visual C++ Runtime packages and reinstall them in the machine.
Open Control Panel from the search bar.
Click on the “Uninstall a program” option.
Note: Take a snapshot of the packages, so you can reinstall the necessary Visual C++ Runtime only.
Select the Microsoft Visual C++ package and right-click the mouse on it.
Click on the “Uninstall” option.
Uninstall the Visual C++ package one by one and restart the machine to finish the cleaning process.
Reinstall the packages, and you will find 2008 to 2022 Visual C++ Runtime executable files here.
Go to the Microsoft page, where all Visual C++ Runtime executable files are present in one place.
Download the necessary files from the page.
Note: Take a quick look at the snapshot and identify the necessary files.
Run the package as an administrator.
Click on “Next” to continue.
Read the terms and conditions to accept it, then click on the “Install” button.
Let the auto-wizard take care of the installation part.
Click on “Finish” and restart Windows PC.
Go to Control Panel, and you will find the newly installed component in the list.
You have to do the same with all Visual C++ Runtime packages. An error while uninstalling or installing the Visual C++ Runtime indication of Windows OS or software is corrupted.
Disable the Overlay Apps
Players have enabled multiple overlay apps while competing in the game. I always keep the Discord turned on, and it consumes CPU, GPU, and RAM resources. Discord’s overlay was putting stress on the limited system resources, and I don’t have a high-end gaming machine.
The Ryzen 5 + RX 570 is an entry-level gaming rig, and I should conserve hardware resources for the game. Here’s how you can disable Discord’s overlay, and you can do the same with other apps.
Open Discord and click on the gear icon located at the bottom left corner.
Scroll down and click on the “Game Overlay” option.
Disable the “Enable in-game overlay” option.
Make sure it is disabled for a day, and you will find the benefits of it.
You might have enabled GeForce Experience overlay or screen recording program, so you have to disable it manually.
Reinstall Warzone Pacific
You made an effort to resolve the COD Warzone Pacific crashing after updating the game. Reinstalling the Warzone in the Windows machine is the last resort.
Bottom Line
We should consider Windows system files corruption and that can lead to COD Warzone Pacific crashing after updating the game. It’s not surprising to find corrupted Windows system files, which have happened to me numerous times over ten years. Let us know what solution resolved the COD problem in the comment section below.
